What are the most amazing hotels in the world, you ask?
That’s what we set out to find! We have scoured the world (ok, the web at least) and present you now what we think are the most amazing hotels in the world. With LOTS of photos!
The hotels are not listed in the order from the coolest to the uncoolest – they are all so unique you can’t possibly compare them with each other! Some are very weird, some gorgeously beautiful and some just very, very cool – though all of them very intriguing and certainly amazing.
1. The Manta Resort, Tanzania
What’s better than to wake up to a beautiful blue morning light from the window and see how the ocean folk has started their day? And then of course take a swim with them to ask for yourself. This place is truly a piece of paradise where you can relax and retreat from the surrounding world.
2. Lion Sands, South Africa
This beautiful resort offers safari tours (walking and driving), dinners under the stars, tours to the hippo pools, helicopter rides, relaxing treatments, you name it!
3. 727 Fuselage Hotel, Costa Verde, Costa Rica
Sleep in an airplane hotel that is not located in the most traditional surroundings for an airplane: in the middle of the jungle! Surely everyone will find something interesting in their activities list: tours around the jungle, waterfall rappelling, fishing, surfing, sailing, kayaking, yoga, parasailing, white water rafting and lots more.
4. Free Spirit Spheres, Vancouver Island, Canada
Relax and retreat in the middle of the nature in a gently swaying, handcrafted sphere that hangs on strong rope webs.
5. Treehotel, Luleå, Sweden
Another tree house hotel but different kinds of shapes and styles! These very modern, unique tree houses with Scandinavian style interior design have beautiful views as well as the peace of nature around them.
6. Giraffe Manor, Kenya
This hotel has its own pets and if you leave a window open you might get a visit at your breakfast table!
7. Caravan Hotel Huttenpalast in Berlin, Germany
Miss summer? In the Caravan hotel you can camp even in the winter time!
8. Gamirasu Cave Hotel, Turkey
This cave hotel is located close to Urgup in the heart of Cappadocia, Ayvali village.The facilities were used as a monastic retreat in the Byzantine Era and was opened as a hotel in 1999.
9. Äscher Cliff, Switzerland
Well, obviously the views from this place are breathtaking! You get there with an aerial cableway from Wasserauen-Ebenalp in 15 minutes, though the hotel can also be reached by walking a passage that goes through some caves(!).
10. Glass Floor Udang House, Bali, Indonesia
This hut is situated above a fresh shrimp pond. There is also a fresh water fountain that supplies a natural pool. Here you can enjoy nature and silence, with just small bubbling from the fountain and tropical birds singing in the forest.
11. Hotel Kakslauttanen, Finland
Situated in the Lapland area of Finland, 155 miles / 250 km above the Arctic Circle, these glass igloos give you a view at the stars straight from your own bed and if you’re lucky enough – the beautiful Aurora Borealis aka the Northern Lights.
12. Amsterdam Zaandam Inntel Hotel, Netherlands
This surrealistic hotel with a beautiful interior design is located next to the Zaandam train station and is only 12 minutes from the city center.
13. Attrap-Rêves Hotel, France
Sleep under the light from the stars with the comforts of a hotel room. A very romantic option for (nature) lovers!
14. La Montaña Magica Lodge, Chile
This volcano-like (but with water pouring down its sides) eco-hotel emerges from the ground between the Southern Andes in the jungle. Relax in the nature.. maybe with a welcoming drink in the Spa facilities. 😉
15. Sala Silver Gruva, Sweden
The deepest hotel room in the world at the depth of 508,6 ft (155 m). It was carved 300 years ago by hand (not by dwarves though, as far as we know).
16. Atlantis The Palm Hotel & Resort, Dubai
This hotel offers a luxurious retreat to sleep with the fish. And we mean Diamond level luxury! One night in a Deluxe Guest Room costs from $320 up – so the underwater suites will probably be somewhat more. But you won’t be paying for nothing; after the opening in 2008 the place has won a variety of internationally renowned hospitality, travel and spa awards and is undoubtedly an amazing experience.
17. Ice Hotel, Jukkasjärvi Sweden
Feel like an ice queen or king and spend a night or more in this surreal and literally cool hotel. Unfortunately they only take reservations for the winter time.
18. Propeller Island City Lodge, Berlin
Artistic and weird stuff in Berlin! Rooms with all kinds of themes from cages to upside-down arranged rooms.
19. Jade Mountain, St Lucia
This majestic honeymoon resort comes with a mesmerizing view that’s difficult to beat. The rooms are spacious with the bed next to the pool and an open balcony to the beautiful Caribbean scene.
20. Mustang Monument, Nevada,USA
Mustang Monument is a sustainable preserve for wild horses as well as a luxurious eco-resort. It is located just south of Wells, Nevada and is open from June 1st to September 30th. It offers its guests customized safari adventures, peace and an opportunity to connect with nature with a pinch of luxury added.
21. Tom Dixon’s Water Tower Apartment, London
The designer Tom Dixon bought an old 5,000 gallon water tank and renovated it into a fancy apartment. He’s now renting out the rooms on Airbnb at around $200/night.
22. Hobbit House, Sikhio, Thailand
Even though Hobbits aren’t that likely to enjoy the hot atmosphere of Thailand you can still imagine being one – maybe a hobbit on holiday. Airbnb rents out this accommodation for around $57/night. Gotta love it!
23. Sidi Driss, Tunisia
Star Wars fan? This cave hotel was where many of the sagas’ most memorable scenes were shot. According to the Tripadvisor reviews the hotel might me a bit outdated so make sure you are a true Star Wars fan (or otherwise adventurous) before booking. 😉

24. Thorngrove Manor, Adelaide Hills, Australia
This adorable fairytale house is a romantic castle-inspired award winning boutique hotel with 4 rooms and a restaurant. The room rates are from AUD 900 up (USD $700 / EUR 620). Yep.
25. The Crazy Bear Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, England
This dimly lit grandiloquent hotel opened in 2008 and got noticed on Conde Nast’s Red Hot List for best new hotels in the world.
26. Jumbo Stay, Stockholm, Sweden
If you have a whole night to wait for your connecting flight at the Arlanda airport why not sleep comfortably in this parked airplane? And why not check the cool hostel even if you’re staying in Stockholm. So, it is a hostel which means the toilets and showers are mainly shared except for the two suites and one single room. Also the wheelhouse single rooms have their own toilet.
27. The Yeatman, Porto, Portugal
If you’re a wine enthusiast this is definitely your place! Enjoy wine and dine well in the beautiful heart of Porto.
28. Thornbury Castle, South Gloucestershire, England

This hotel is a car lover’s dream-come-true! It’s not only located in the place where the Automobile was born but in the very heart of the MOTORWORLD in Stuttgart. There’s a lot of car-related activities going on around the hotel but there’s also a relaxation area with a fitness room and sauna. Make sure to visit the world famous Merzedes Benz and Porche museums during your stay here!

Probably every kid (and maybe adult, too) has dreamed of living in the Harry Potter world and receiving their invitation letter to Hogwarts. 32. STF Kolarbyn – Eco Lodge, Sweden
No running water nor electricity here, just the peace and quiet of the nature. If you wish to feel being one with nature this is definitely your place. Something everyone should add to their bucket list – immediately.
33. Martin’s Patershof Church Hotel, Belgium
The beautiful church built in 1231 was renovated and turned very into a hotel that opened for guests in 2009. The place is an artistic performance built of stained-glass windows, arched ceilings, high pillars and the strong touch of history.
34. Crazy House, Vietnam
The creator of the Crazy House wants people to remember to take care of the nature and live along with it instead of destroying it. This shows in the values and policies of the hotel. The Crazy House must be one of the most exciting hotels in the world with it’s numerous, crazy details. Being a very unique place the hotel gets, unsurprisingly, visited by hundreds of interested tourists also in the daytime.
35. Whitepod, Les Cerniers, Switzerland
The floor-to-ceiling windows of these cozy little bubble-cottages are facing towards the stunning valley view at 4593ft above sea level. Enough said.
36. Quinta Real Zacatecas, Mexico
A 5-star hotel built around an old bullfighting ring in the heart of the beautiful city of Zacatecas.
37. Capsule Hotel Rumor Plaza, Japan
Japan is known for it’s capsule accommodation and here’s one of the best ones. It offers high class capsules and spa amenities. Great option for a solo traveler!
38. Yellow Submarine Hotel, Liverpool, UK.
The Beatles and MOD culture themed sub is situated in the famous Albert Dock. The house boat offers luxurious accommodation, three bedrooms, kitchen equipment, washing machine etc. The company, Hollywood Apartments & Barges, also has two other themed boat apartments; The Joker and Titanic.
39. Anniversary Inn, Utah/Idaho/Salt Lake City, USA
This hotel chain offers unforgettable and imaginative surroundings for a stay. It has four different hotels, all with their uniquely designed rooms – though some of them have the same theme.
